Position: Assistant Cook

Reports to: Food Service Manager

Job Status: Casual Openings, Onsite

Location:  1645 Pickering Pkwy, Pickering, ON L1V 6L3 

Pay: $18- $19.63


Your Day-to-Day:

As an Assistant Cook at Amenida Senior Community, your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting in the preparation and serving of home-cooked meals using fresh, real ingredients for residents.

  • Supporting the planning and prepping of meals for the current and following day.

  • Helping the Food Service Manager with kitchen operations as needed.

  • Ensuring proper food presentation and portion control under guidance.

  • Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in all food preparation areas according to health regulations.

  • Supporting general kitchen tasks, including lifting, bending, twisting, and standing for extended periods.

  • Cleaning kitchen equipment and work areas following established standards.

  • Following safety and food handling protocols at all times.


What You Bring to the Table:

  • Some experience working in a busy kitchen environment, preferably in senior care or institutional settings.

  • Basic ability to assist in preparing large-batch meals with attention to taste, presentation, and dietary requirements.

  • Valid Food Handling Certificate.

  • Experience with Korean cuisine and willingness to learn and assist in preparing a variety of other cuisines.

  • Ability to lift, bend, and perform physical tasks related to food service.

  • Positive attitude and team-oriented mindset.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays as needed.

  • Must successfully complete a criminal background check prior to hire, including a Vulnerable Sector Screening, in accordance with provincial and federal regulations.
