Position: Cook
Reports to: General Manager
Job Status: Full Time & Part Time - (9:30 am- 5:30 pm)
Location: 1645 Pickering Pkwy, Pickering, ON L1V 7E9
Pay: $18.90 to $22/hr
Must Have: Provide Proof of Flu Shots and Covid Vaccine Records
Your Day to Day:
- Prepare all food items following the established menu.
- Plan cooking schedules to ensure optimal food quality and nutritional value.
- Modify food items to suit therapeutic or textured diets as required.
- Control portion sizes, ensuring recipe yields meet designated serving quantities.
- Follow directions from the Food Services Manager and document information in line with Policies & Procedures.
- Maintain proper food rotation in storage to minimize spoilage and waste.
- Ensure sanitary conditions by routinely cleaning the work area and adhering to safe food handling practices.
- Collaborate with the Food Services Manager on menu planning, recipes, food quality, production methods, and handling leftovers.
- Monitor temperatures of coolers, freezers, and prepared food to ensure safety standards are met.
- Prepare food for special catering events and gather necessary supplies for activities.
- Supervise designated staff and report issues or discrepancies to the Food Services Manager.
- Participate in facility in-service training sessions and departmental meetings.
- Perform cleaning and other assigned duties as directed by the Food Services Manager.
- Inspect food and supply deliveries, cross-checking stock against invoices, and report any errors or irregularities to the Food Services Manager.
- Read and interpret relevant departmental and interdepartmental communications.
- Maintains a safe work environment.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
What You Bring to the Table:
- Grade 12 or an equivalent combination of education, training,
- Journeymen chefs papers or equivalent experience
- Experience in a la carte, banquets and cold & hot kitchen
- Experience in institutional cooking is an asset
- Food Safe Certificate
- Fluency in Korean, in addition to English, is required.

- Capable of working under pressure in a warm, noisy environment.
- Strong teamwork skills, with the ability to supervise others when necessary.
