Early Childhood Education Instructor & Practicum Supervisor
Location: Calgary, AB (CDI Calgary NE & Various Field Sites)
Pay Range: $27.00 – $28.00 per hour
Schedule: Monday – Thursday (6:00 PM – 9:30 PM) and occasional Saturdays
Travel: Must be able to commute to various field sites for practicum visits
Primary Purpose
The Early Childhood Education (ECE) Instructor & Practicum Supervisor is responsible for fostering academic excellence and professional growth in students. This role uniquely blends evening classroom instruction with field-based supervision, ensuring students successfully bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world application within the ECE sector.
General Description
Under the direction of the Campus Director, the Instructor delivers curriculum, mentors adult learners, and evaluates student performance. This position requires a consistent presence at the Calgary NE campus for seminars and regular travel to practicum placement sites throughout the region to provide on-site mentorship and assessment.
Key Responsibilities

Instructional Delivery: Lead engaging practicum seminars and deliver high-quality ECE curriculum; utilize diverse educational practices tailored for adult learners.

Practicum Supervision: Travel to various childcare centers and early learning facilities to observe, mentor, and evaluate students in action during their placements.

Student Assessment: Grade examinations, assignments, and field performance reports within five business days; maintain meticulous attendance and progress records.

Curriculum Maintenance: Ensure all academic tools, online course shells, and instructional materials are current and aligned with provincial ECE standards.

Stakeholder Communication: Act as the primary liaison between the college and practicum site partners, ensuring professional and collaborative relationships.

Professionalism: Model the ethical standards of the ECE profession and participate in faculty meetings and orientation sessions.
Qualifications & Competencies
Education and Experience:

Credential: Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Early Childhood Education or a closely related field.

Certification: Must hold a valid ECE Level 3 (Child Development Supervisor) certification.

Teaching Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience instructing adult learners or a recognized teaching certification.

Field Experience: Significant hands-on experience in licensed childcare settings (daycares, preschools, or kindergartens).
Skills and Requirements:

Mobility: Must possess a valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle to commute between the Calgary NE campus and various practicum sites.

Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to facilitate seminars and provide constructive feedback to students.

Specialized Knowledge: Familiarity with inclusive practices and supporting children with diverse needs (e.g., PPD, ADHD).
