Addictions and Community Services Worker (ACSW) Instructor

Location: CDI College – Edmonton West  
Reports To: Education Manager
Job Status: Full-time, In-Person
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (1 Hour Lunch Break)
Compensation: $25–$29 per hour


Your Day to Day:

  • Deliver engaging instruction aligned with curriculum objectives.

  • Prepare lesson plans and teaching materials using diverse methods.

  • Explain course outlines and expectations to students.

  • Monitor and discuss student progress individually and in groups.

  • Maintain accurate attendance, grades, and other required records.

  • Provide and update online course materials consistent with the latest textbook edition.

  • Participate in curriculum development, evaluation, and updates.

  • Attend orientation, staff, and instructor meetings as required.

  • Arrange make-up sessions for missed teaching hours.

  • Complete final exams and submit grades promptly.

  • Maintain professional conduct, integrity, and respect for students, colleagues, and the College.

  • Keep industry knowledge current through ongoing professional development.

  • Collaborate with administration to ensure smooth course delivery.


What You Bring to the Table:

  • Degree, diploma, or certification in a relevant field.

  • Minimum five years of professional (non-teaching) experience in counseling.

  • Instructional experience and relevant teaching certifications.

  • Completion of:

    • Train the Trainer course

    • ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training)

    • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention

  • Canadian Addiction Counselors Certification (preferred).

  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to motivate and inspire students while providing equitable feedback.

  • Commitment to high standards of professionalism and continuous improvement.
