Position Title: PHP Developer

Job Type: Full Time (Onsite)

Work Location: 960 Quayside Dr, New Westminster BC V3M 6G2

Salary Range: Starting from 55K per year (Negotiable based on experience) + Benefits

Expected Start Date: March 24th, 2025

 

Job Responsibilities

The PHP Developer will, at various times, be responsible for the following, as well as other related duties as assigned to support business objectives:

  • Expand and enhance the functionality of the existing system in alignment with the Company’s corporate standards and technical requirements.

  • Write well-designed, testable, and efficient code following software development best practices.

  • Ensure compliance with all security measures throughout the application development process.

  • Integrate and migrate data from various back-end services and databases.

  • Provide application support by resolving and troubleshooting technical issues.

  • Implement and maintain Object-Oriented Programming principles and MVC architecture for structured, scalable, and maintainable PHP applications.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Degree, diploma, or certificate in graphic design, web development, or computer science (Bachelor’s degree preferred).

  • A minimum of three years’ experience in web design and development, demonstrated by a portfolio of past work.

  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

  • 1–2+ years of experience and a strong understanding of PHP, JavaScript, JSON, jQuery, HTML5 and CSS3.

  • 1–2+ years of experience with relational databases such as MySQL.

  • 1–2+ years of experience with Linux servers.

  • Moodle and/or general LMS experience are assets.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Solid understanding of web applications, including security, session management, and best development practices.

  • A high degree of proficiency in programming skills, with in-depth knowledge of modern scripting and programming languages.

  • Demonstrated experience with Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and MVC architecture to maintain clean, modular code.

  • Understanding of API standards and frameworks, including RESTful web services.

  • Experience with API integrations and Moodle.

  • Strong familiarity with relational database systems, OOP principles, and web application development.

  • Good organizational skills and the ability to multitask while meeting multiple deadlines.

  • Proven project management skills with a demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects in parallel.

  • Ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively within a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment; deadline-driven and goal-oriented.

  • Willingness to learn new software languages, databases, and software tools.

  • Ability to work under pressure and maintain a calm focus during hectic periods.

  • Ability to manage external vendors and services as required.

  • A positive attitude and a customer-focused approach.

  • Ability to act with tact, good judgment, and discretion.
