Active Living Manager

Job Status: Full-Time
Location: 1340 York Mills Rd, North York, ON M3A 3R1 
Compensation: 42,000 to 45,000 Annually

Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and evaluate recreational, social, and therapeutic programs that support residents' physical, cognitive, emotional, and social well-being.
• Ensure programs are person-centered, inclusive, accessible, and responsive to residents' needs and interests.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to integrate recreational and therapeutic activities into resident care plans.
• Supervise, mentor, and support Active Living Aides and volunteers.
• Provide training and guidance to staff on best practices in recreational programming and resident engagement.
• Monitor staff performance and provide constructive feedback to support professional development.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of program participation, outcomes, resident feedback, and required documentation.
• Ensure all activities comply with Ministry of Long-Term Care standards, applicable regulations, facility policies, and collective agreements.
• Assist with the preparation and management of the Active Living department budget and monitor expenditures.
• Prepare reports for management and regulatory bodies as required.
• Collaborate with union representatives and ensure adherence to applicable collective agreement requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What You Bring to the Table

Required Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in Recreation Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation, Gerontology, or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a recreational role within a long-term care or healthcare setting.
• Current First Aid & CPR Certification.
• Knowledge of Ministry of Long-Term Care standards and regulations.
• Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team.
• Strong understanding of seniors' needs and resident-centered programming.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant recreation or activity management systems.
• Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.

Nice to Have

• Experience in long-term care, retirement living, healthcare, or a seniors' community.
• Experience supervising recreation staff and volunteers.
• Experience working in a unionized environment and knowledge of collective agreements.
• Experience with program budgeting, reporting, and resource management.
• Passion for creating meaningful, engaging, and person-centered experiences for seniors.
