Reports to: Food Services Manager
Job Status: Part-Time
Shifts: 7:00am to 11:00 am or 11:00 am till 7:00 pm 
Location: 599 William Avenue, Greater Sudbury, ON P3A 5W3 
Pay: $17.60/hour

Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Provide friendly, respectful, and professional service to residents and guests during meal times.
  • Serve meals, snacks, and beverages according to established portion sizes and dietary requirements.
  • Assist with dining room setup, meal service, clearing tables, and cleaning after meals.
  • Support the culinary team with basic food preparation, portioning, plating, and meal assembly as directed by the Cook or Food Services Manager.
  • Follow residents’ dietary requirements, allergies, and special meal instructions carefully.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen, dining, and food service areas.
  • Wash and sanitize dishes, utensils, equipment, and food preparation areas as required.
  • Assist with receiving, storing, and organizing food and supplies while following proper food storage procedures.
  • Complete light housekeeping and laundry duties as assigned.
  • Handle kitchen and dining equipment safely and report damaged or unsafe equipment immediately.
  • Follow all food safety, infection prevention and control, WHMIS, and workplace safety procedures.
  • Respect and uphold residents’ privacy, dignity, rights, and individual preferences at all times.
  • Build positive relationships with residents, families, visitors, and coworkers.
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies and follow established emergency procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Food Services Manager or General Manager.

What You Bring to the Table

  • Previous experience in food service, culinary, hospitality, retirement living, healthcare, housekeeping, or a related environment is preferred.
  • Food Handler/Food Safe Level 1 certification is preferred or required as applicable.
  • WHMIS certification is preferred.
  • Experience working with seniors or in a retirement or long-term care environment is an asset.
  • Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  • Friendly, respectful, and service-oriented attitude.
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to follow recipes, instructions, food safety procedures, and dietary requirements.
  • Strong attention to cleanliness, organization, and food safety.
  • Understanding and empathy for the needs of seniors.
  • Well-groomed with high standards of personal hygiene.
  • Ability to safely perform the physical requirements of the position, including standing for extended periods, bending, lifting, carrying, and moving supplies and equipment.
  • Ability to follow infection prevention and control, health and safety, and workplace procedures.
  • Successful completion of required background checks and health documentation, including TB testing where applicable.
