Dental Instructor (Maternity Leave Contract)

Position Snapshot

  • Location: Reeves College – Edmonton South Campus

  • Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM

  • Compensation: $32.00 / hour

  • Term: Immediate start through March 2027

  • Reports To: Campus Director / Education Manager

About the Role

Join the team at Reeves College Edmonton South as a Dental Instructor covering a maternity leave contract through March 2027. You’ll deliver engaging, hands-on and theory-based instruction aligned with accredited curriculum standards, preparing students for real-world dental assisting careers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Instruction: Deliver module/program objectives, prepare practical lesson plans, and foster an active, supportive, and structured classroom/lab environment.

  • Evaluation: Assess student progress fairly, grade assignments and exams with timely feedback, and maintain accurate progress/attendance records.

  • Student Support & Placement: Monitor and support students during clinical/practicum placements, coordinating with host sites as needed.

  • Admin & Collaboration: Handle routine campus administrative tasks, participate in faculty/program meetings, and uphold college standards of academic integrity.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: Diploma or degree in Dental Assisting or a related dental discipline from a recognized institution.

  • Experience: 3+ years in the dental field, including $\ge$ 2 years of practical chairside/clinical experience. Adult education background or provincial instructor credentials strongly preferred.

  • Licensure: Current practicing registration/certification with Alberta dental regulatory bodies (or equivalent Canadian certification, e.g., NDAEB).

  • Skills: Strong interpersonal and motivational communication skills, comfortable integrating instructional tech and multi-modal learning.
