Job Title:  Playschool Director 

 

Position: Playschool Director

Report to: Regional Manager

Job Status: Full-time - Contract (Maternity Leave Coverage)

Work Hours: Flexible, As per business needs (7 am - 5:30 pm, Monday - Friday)

Start Date: November 2024

Location: 2121 Clearbrook Rd, Abbotsford BC V2T 4H6 (On-site)

Salary: $55,000 - $60,000 Annually (Flexible Based on Experience) + WE + Comprehensive Extended Benefits

 

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

 

Reporting to the Regional Manager, the Playschool Director is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the child care Centre. The role involves establishing and maintaining a positive learning environment for children and ensuring that all programs comply with government regulations. 

Additionally, the position includes responsibilities such as employee management, training, scheduling, hands-on operations, collecting and reporting payments, and managing social media. The role will contribute to a growth plan aimed at expanding the business to multiple locations.

 

Your Day to Day:

 

Business Operations:

  • Implement and supervise strategies and policies to ensure a safe environment for children and team members, including preventative maintenance and team/management meetings addressing risks.
  • Meet with parents/guardians and handle new enrolment, including tours and registration.
  • Attend inspections and visits from licensing, health authorities, and other government bodies.
  • Prepare weekly staff schedules and ensure compliance with staff-to-child ratios.
  • Implement activities for children to promote their creative, intellectual, social, emotional, and physical growth honoring the children’s point of interest.
  • Communicate with parents/guardians and other relevant parties about children issues, including medical, behavioral or learning challenges and all child care related concerns.
  • Provide shift and break coverage, when needed.

Leadership:

  • Support human resource functions under the guidance of the Regional Manager, including recruitment, employee relations, health and safety, performance management, and discipline.
  • Offer training, team building and professional development for team members.

Budget and Financial:

  • Plan, organize, control, and evaluate the procurement and use of necessary supplies to ensure efficient facility operations.
  • Maximize revenue by providing quality services and maintaining maximum enrolment capacity.
  • Submit accurate reports to government agencies, and Regional Manager as required.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Strong understanding of the BC childcare licensing standards to ensure compliance.
  • Review, develop, and implement policies and practices in alignment with relevant governing bodies.
  • Maintain a good relationship with the Licensing Officer to deliver a safe environment, including submitting Reportable Incident reports, Exemption/Retention applications and over all communication with the Licensing Office as needed.

Other:

  • Maintain the confidentiality of information related to children, families, team members, financial arrangements, and results.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

What You Bring to the Table: 

 

  • Valid Early Childhood Education (ECE) BC Certificate. Infant Toddler Educator Certificate is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of ECE experience is required.
  • Previous childcare management experience is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in early childhood education (ECE) or Child Development is preferred.
  • Valid Emergency Child Care First Aid Certificate

 

Other Requirements:

 

  • Effective communication in English, both orally and in writing.
  • Leadership, direction, support, and motivation abilities.
  • Independent work with limited direction.
  • Ability to work under pressure, maintain focus and make appropriate decisions during hectic periods.
  • Excellent organization skills for planning, organizing, and directing facility operations.
  • Functional computer literacy in Word, Excel, Teams and Outlook.
  • Clear criminal record check and vulnerable persons search.
  • Willingness to work the hours necessary for effective facility operation.
  • Preparedness to respond to emergency situations
