Are you passionate about helping students achieve their educational goals while also keeping financial operations running smoothly? This dual-role opportunity blends the impactful, student-facing responsibilities of a Student Financial Planner with the critical, behind-the-scenes work of a Financial Administrator. In this hybrid position, you will guide students through the financial aid process, build personalized funding plans, and ensure compliance—all while supporting core financial functions that keep the campus on track.
Compensation: $44,000–$46,000 + Comprehensive Benefits
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent, Onsite
Location: VaCC Abbotsford
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:30 AM – 6:00 PM

Your Day to Day:
Primary Responsibilities (Student Financial Planner – ~75%)

Meet with students to develop and review personalized payment and financial assistance plans, incorporating government funding, scholarships, and personal resources.

Guide students through the financial aid process, ensuring applications are complete, timely, and accurate.

Act as the campus expert on funding options and eligibility criteria.

Maintain compliance with all internal and external financial policies, procedures, and provincial/federal regulations.

Support the administrative functions of the campus, contributing to a seamless and student-centric experience.

Build strong, empathetic relationships with students, promoting financial literacy and responsible funding choices.
Secondary Responsibilities (Financial Administrator – ~25%)

Support day-to-day campus financial operations, including processing drop calculations, financial adjustments, scholarships, and contracts.

Assist in managing financial workflows such as finance pre-closures, CRC applications, second student loan applications, and referral bonus tracking.

Help analyze financial data and report on trends to ensure responsiveness and accuracy in campus financial matters.

Collaborate with campus leadership and other departments to streamline finance-related procedures.

Maintain high standards of record-keeping and financial accuracy to support audit readiness and transparency.
What You Bring to the Table:

Post-secondary education in Business, Accounting, or Finance; a Bachelor's degree is preferred.

Minimum one year of related experience in a financial, student services, or administrative setting.

Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a student-first mindset.

High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks independently.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); able to navigate systems and troubleshoot minor tech issues.

A solutions-oriented approach, with a calm demeanor under pressure and a commitment to maintaining professionalism.
Bonus Points For:

Experience with personalized financial counseling or working in a student services environment.

Familiarity with accounting platforms and advanced Excel skills (e.g., VLOOKUP, pivot tables).
